? Generally speaking, we don't predict MTBF so much as we predict piece part and unit failure rate (usually per million operating hours). But even that's changing ... with RiAC's 217Plus™ which factors in periods of dormancy (i.e. non-operation) and generate predictions in calendar hours instead of operating hours. ? 217Plus also takes into consideration things like the CMMI level of your organization in predicting failure rate of your products. 217Plus seems to be a step forward but for most applications which still require predictions to be presented in flight hours, the analyst needs to factor in duty cycle in order to convert from calendar hours. |
