Background

Siemens Solar Industries (SSI) manufactures monocrystalline solar cells and modules and thin-film copper indium diselenide (CIS) cells. The modules are used in utility, industrial, telecommunications, and battery-charging applications.<p>SSI offers a self-study course covering all aspects of photovoltaic applications, system specification, sizing, and design. SSI was recently purchased by Shell Solar.

Manufacturing

Shell Solar now has a global manufacturing plants based the Netherlands and Portugal. Camarillo in California is one
of the world’s largest mono-crystalline manufacturing plants
with a capacity of 60MW per annum. The facility manufactures cells and modules using silicon crystals grown at our Vancouver site in Washington State. Camarillo
focuses on the production of mono-crystalline cells and modules; and also produces our award winning CIS thin-film
modules.
